Spring cleaning for your water feature — done right, by the crews who build them.
Every pond earns its keep through winter — and by spring, it shows. Sludge settles, leaves break down, plants outgrow their welcome, and the water loses that first-day clarity. The fix is the annual spring cleanout: a deep, top-to-bottom service that resets your water feature for the season ahead.
We recommend a cleanout every spring, and our annual service season runs February through June. Slots fill fast — early signups get the calendar, so get on the schedule as soon as you're thinking about it. And yes: we clean features we didn't build, too.
What's in a spring cleanout
- Full drain-down and thorough cleanout
- Sludge and debris removal
- Aquatic plant pruning and culling
- Leak inspection — known issues addressed while the water is down
- Filter cleaning
- Pump inspection and cleaning
- Low-voltage lighting check, as needed
- Refill and restart
Signs it's time for a cleanout
- Water that has gone murky or tea-colored
- A layer of muck you can smell
- String algae taking over the rocks and falls
- A waterfall that has lost its flow
- Plants slowly swallowing the pond
Catch it early in the season and your pond is glassy by the first warm evening. For the homeowner's view of the process, read our article on spring cleaning your water feature.
The optional fall cleanup
Once the leaves are down, we offer a lighter fall service — a quick drain and cleaning with a filter check and pump cleaning to pull the bulk of the season's debris before it winters over. It isn't strictly necessary — the spring cleanout is the deep, thorough service either way — but many of our clients add it because they want their feature looking good every month of the year.
From cleanout customers
Clients who have tried other pond services tell us the same thing: our crews are more thorough and more detail-oriented — in the approach, the knowledge, and the work.
"I would highly recommend Victor and his hard working crew for the great work they did on cleaning out my pond. And discovered that rather than 19 koi, I have 29. Once again, thank you for a very hard working crew."
"Your guys just left and did such a fabulous job! They did such a nice job and were so nice to work with. See you next year for our annual water feature maintenance! Thank you!"
"Thank you for contacting me about Spring Cleaning my pond. The pond continues to operate very well and brings me great joy."
